Amplify is Healthwatch Blackburn with Darwen’s young persons project, designed and delivered by young people to allow them to share their views and experience on the things that keep them happy, healthy and feeling good. These insights help to shape local health care provision.
Drop in sessions at high schools in Blackburn allow young people to engage in an informal way with staff and volunteers. Drop in’s are themed around a specific subject and allow young people to both share their views and experiences, whilst being pointed in the right direction for specific services.
It was great to meet the staff and volunteers working on Amplify and hear how they’ve regularly used Leapfrog tools to engage with young people. Leapfrog tools target Control and Storyboard Contract have been used widely in engagement sessions both by volunteers and by young people who have been trained to use Leapfrog tools to speak to other young people about their views and experiences. On the launch night volunteers and young people were using Leapfrog tools to give launch participants a taster of how Amplify engage with young people which was great to see!
